HOME

Welcome to my own little corner of the Internet. It took me a year to start working on this website after having registered the domain name magister52.se, but I finally did it in March 2019. Here you can learn about me and find links to great open source software and different coding resources. The website is divided into four different sections as follows:
  • Home
Information about this website and who I am.
  • Coding Resources
External links to coding tutorials, documentation and example code.
  • Recommendations
External links to great free and open source software that I find useful.
  • Interactive Fiction
Full games or example code that I (or my students) have written, as well as external links to other interactive fiction out there.
I have been playing around with responsive design using CSS media selectors in order for the website to also work on phones. I decided to use PHP to separate the header and footer into seperate documents and will likely add more PHP-functionality later on. I am also slowly switching over from using JPG/PNG-images to using fully scalable SVG instead. There is likely going to be more JavaScript running at some point apart from the link to my YouTube-channel. I have also made sure that the website if 100% W3C-compliant.

The W3C is an international standards organization, founded by the inventor of the web. They develop the standards on which the world wide web is run.

ABOUT ME

my avatarMy name is Tomas Jelf Werner and I am 38 years old. I am married to a wonderful woman and the proud father of three (two boys and one girl). The saying "Jack of all trades, master of none" seems like a fitting description of me; I am pretty good at a lot of things but can hardly call myself an expert. However, I do not think this is a bad thing. I am a fast learner and always have a multitude of projects in the works, even though I rarely finish them.

Currently I work as a teacher and IT-administrator at a Swedish secondary school. I teach English and basic coding but I have also taught Swedish and various Media/communication-subjects in High school. My job is really satisfying because I get to combine my interests in IT as well as teaching, which really is a dream come true for me.

I've been playing around with different basic Twine experiments since 2017 and have had great fun learning how to write various text-based games, including a simple RPG, a math game and some interactive stories. I started out using the Harlowe story format but have since moved on to SugarCube because it better fits my needs.
